Vietnam’s recovery from decades of war and economic insecurity has been remarkable. However there is still great need for sustainable livelihood in many communities. Conscious of this need, Spark Center evolved from an SNV project to an organization dedicated to supporting business initiatives that were directly contributing to alleviation of poverty and improving livelihoods. All the enterprises we support are creating positive and lasting social impact across various sectors.
There is a growing private sector and passionate and committed development actors and Spark works to combine the strengths of both groups for sustainable development in Vietnam.
Spark Center for Social Entrepreneurship Development in Viet Nam (Spark Center) is part of the Local Capacity Development Facility (LCDF), initiated by the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV). LCDF helps rural businesses, local governments and non-profit organizations to improve their capacities to prosper and scale-up their own solutions and innovations.
Spark Center is co-founded by SNV, the Viet Nam Center for Community Support Development Studies (CECODES), PACT in Viet Nam and the Center for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD Viet Nam).
Since 2011, Spark Center has officially operated as a Vietnamese non-profit organization under Viet Nam Union of Science and Technology Associations.
